Known for its innovative healthcare products and solutions, our client is a global life sciences enterprise that maintains high standards of excellence for hiring. To support the company’s aggressive growth, System One implemented a comprehensive workforce solution utilizing our Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) program for full-time positions. We applied proven strategies that increased the efficiency, speed, and quality of the company’s direct hiring efforts, resulting in more than 300 hires over an 18-month period.

Client Scenario

As with many highly-innovative large employers, our client struggled with a shortage of skilled professionals to fill open requirements. The internal human resources infrastructure was inadequate to keep up with requisitions across a diverse range of professional and technical disciplines. The company sought a business partner who had the depth and breadth to quickly and cost-effectively source, screen, and track candidates.

Over the course of more than ten years, System One and its sister division Joulé built strong relationships with direct hiring managers while delivering contract staffing support. As a result, we developed strong insights into the client’s culture and operations, and were selected to roll out the permanent placement RPO program.

Combining local expertise with national reach, System One met the client’s criteria for a community-based business partner. We put dedicated recruiters onsite at multiple locations who operated as an extension of the client’s internal HR team. Maintaining tight quality controls, System One ensured a positive candidate experience, providing a single point of contact with seamless service and consistent brand messaging.

The RPO encompassed full-time direct hire positions across diverse business functions, including clinical operations, information technology, engineering, and professional support. All open requirements funneled through the RPO program, and System One developed targeted candidate attraction strategies utilizing its robust recruiting toolkit.

Elements of the RPO program included:

  • Detailed phone screens using non-discriminatory, competency-based interviewing techniques
  • Technical and skill-based assessments based on internal requirements
  • Scheduling of interviewing and direct candidate follow-up
  • Data entry into the client’s applicant tracking and HR systems
  • Reference checking with previous employers
  • Background checks and drug screening

Beyond the scope of this engagement, System One continues to assist the client with contingent workforce management. We employ approximately 100 contractors across multiple business units at any given time.
