Project Controls for Nuclear Energy Clients
Challenge
A large utility company serving more than 10.5 million customers through six fully regulated transmission and distribution utilities needed to ensure regulatory compliance related to their operations.
Solution
Since 2015, System One has provided project controls as a managed service for a major utility company's large capital projects. In January of 2020, System One was awarded seven new contracts to provide project controls as a project management oversight contractor (PMOC) for these large capital projects. System One also served as a subcontractor providing project controls support to several PMOCs. Our most recent experience involved the development of project controls methods and practices to support the integration of the three utilities into a standardized framework. This effort began in 2016 and included the complete standup of a project controls team providing cost analysis, scheduling, estimating, and project management assistance to support the centrally managed project management organization. Over three years, we standardized the platforms for cost forecasting, scheduling, and estimating and transitioned the team to utilize all relevant technology platforms, including Asset Suite 8, WPS, EPS, and Redwave.
Result
Over the last eight years, we have become stewards of the project controls practices and consider ourselves partners to ensure that detailed, accurate cost, scheduling, and contract information is managed and controlled to assist project managers in the successful execution of large capital projects.
